Redefining remote: telehealth arrives in the Waku health post
Sitting deep in the Himalaya, the Waku Health Post provides health care to the people of the Rural Municipality of Mapya Dudhkoshi, Solukhumbu. Due to its remoteness, getting access to healthcare is difficult, sometimes meaning hours of walking for the people of the region. With the support of Action for Nepal and AHF, recent adoption of telehealth consultations in Waku is bridging the gap and getting people treated.

Meet the Nepalese teacher transforming her school environment
At a secondary school, nestled in the heart of Chaulakharka in the Solukhumbu district, stands as a testament to the transformative power of education in rural Nepal. As a vital member of TTQIE initiative, the school has overcome significant challenges to enhance its Early Childhood Education programs. Until recently, the school faced fundamental issues, lacking essential facilities such as proper insulation, child-friendly furniture, and adequate materials for its children.
School of the Air: Learning by radio broadcasts during Covid-19
In April 2020 when schools closed, many students in remote Nepal had no access to learning. This was because many families in the Solukhumbu live in houses with no internet. Sometimes they don’t have electricity, either. And students can walk hours a day to get to school at all. As a result, as the crisis of COVID-19 grew around the world, Nepal was facing a crisis for students in the Himalaya.
